The T20 Experience(Fun unlimited)
Last week i had chance to live a IPL T20 cricket match .
It was between Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Superkings. Before i start ,for those who don’t know , I am sure there will be less ppl in it, I wanted to make it clear that T20 is a fast paced cricket contest of a max 20 overs each team has to play.
I managed to pull out time from the very busy work schedule in a IT company i work. My boss came to know that i need to go early.. so he made sure that i ‘ll be completing the long day work in half a day. I slogged and managed. I along with 2 other colleagues hurriedly took the local train from Andheri to Churchgate braving the crowds first through bus then in train during office hours.
So the match was slotted at 8pm at wankhede. We reached there half an hour earlier and met other 2 freinds waiting. Feeling hungry we gulped wada paav and cutlets with lots of water to make sure that we are charged up to support our favourite Mumbai indians team. The climate was humid and we were sweating hard . Anyhow we reached the entry for our stand which was Sunil Gavaskar stand(always filled up with twice its capacity).
Here we got checked up by the securities . One of my friend has got a camera and was immediately sent out , i also came out with him. So now we 2 were in utter dilemma of whether to see the match or return to put it back at home coz there was no facility to submit the costly camera anywhere near and also the match was gonna start in next 10 mins. He thought and told me to hide it inside the pocket and brave the securities like a spy. With initial reservations i got out and started thinking that how i shuld go inside.
Suddenly i remembered my boss comments on me 2 days earlier that you have been good at your work last year but you have to be more aggressive in your approach towards things.
I decided to give it a try.. and with lots of ppl i queue followed them and was finally able to ditch the mediocre security for whom i have heard that they have charged 10lacs rs for a single match.
The moment i entered the ground the enviroment was exhilarating. With lovely white (flood light )lit up the ground was shining like water. The public presence made it a more pronounced show. I reached the stands and the music was on.. the lovely cheerleaders were dancing to mumbai’s theme song. I was fully charged with crowd making a lot of hullaballoo.
We came to know that chennai was going to bat. The game started and it was lovelty to see the mix of players from differnt country in each side. It was like a blend of flavours in your dish …a sort of intercontinental on your platter. The game was on the guys really put a good show at the end despite of initial failings. I was enchanted by the power show from my personal favourite skippper MS dhoni in batting side. They made a decent total.
A break… and the public was cheering the home side for the batting to come…. gr8 music along with drums in our statnd made ppl dance and shout… unfortunate to those who were passing by….ppl used to throw bits of muggled up paper… but they took that in good spirit.
So finally the second innnings started and we were going to watch 2 legends of modern cricket Sachin tendulkar (making a come back after a month) and immaculate Jayasuriya opening the innings. We were expecting a lovely show..and they didnt let us down ..off to a thunderous start there was lot of sixes and fours by Jayasuriya.. hitting everywhere around the ground easily to evry bowler.. on the stands, top of the roofs… we were acclerated dint got a chance to sit back…as music didnt stopped and dance and celebration shook the stadium through the 13th over which the
home side won comfortably with the 48 ball hundred from the Jyasuriya.
I had gone to childhood memories in tournament where you go to play in sunday morning and the match is over till noon with result and ur back to home upto lunch with all enjoyments.. So you feel you had utilized the day.. The T20 is already a hit with its concept.
